About the series

Many documents circulate as fragments, paraphrases, or unattributed quotations. This series restores the text as a whole and makes it usable: readable, citable, and explicit about what is original and what is editorial.

  • Photographic facsimile from surviving originals
  • Diplomatic transcription preserving orthography and punctuation
  • English translation with brief explanatory notes where needed
  • Short introduction covering provenance and transmission

Editorial approach

Documents of the Twentieth Century is published for historical and educational purposes. Editorial material is kept practical: provenance, transmission, bibliographic particulars, and minimal notes where clarification is useful.

Primary texts are reproduced for documentary use. Inclusion does not imply endorsement.

Volumes are prepared from surviving copies and related publications, drawing where relevant on archival catalogues and reliable digital facsimiles. Transcription preserves original spelling and punctuation. Translation aims for accuracy and clarity, with notes used sparingly.
