Research, written to last

Otter Stream Studio undertakes small commissions in archival research and narrative writing. For families and institutions who want the record handled carefully - and turned into prose that can be trusted.

What we make

Archival document from the Otter Stream research collection
Work is source-led, with a clear trail back to the record.

How we work

We begin with the record. We read, catalogue, cross-check, and only then shape a narrative. The aim is not mythology - it is a coherent account that can be shared, cited, and returned to years later.

Assurances

  • Transparent source list (and copies where permitted)
  • Measured prose suitable for private circulation or publication
  • Discreet handling of sensitive material

Process

  1. A short call to understand scope, audience, and materials
  2. A brief proposal (scope, approach, timeline, staged fee)
  3. Research and drafting with agreed check-ins
  4. Delivery: manuscript plus notes, sources, and any agreed assets
